So the past few days I have been thinking if I actually believe in New Year's Resolutions, do you? I've been trying to come up with a few ones that don't sound the same as everyone else's, except the thing is, mine really are the ones like "excercise more, eat better, try to enjoy the moments in life that go quickly".
But there's a few others too I've come up with- I'd like to read more books, not the stupid Nora Roberts ones I can steal away for now and then, they are so easy to read anyways and I think my brain needs more stimulation! I think I'll have no problem doing this one as I need to read every book on Lactation I can get my hands on these coming months in order to be prepared for my new career journey...starting in the beginning of April I will be facilitating a breastfeeding support group at Dayspring Midwifery where I lead discussion for the clients there who are pre-and post-natal. I am so estatic about this new adventure, and crazy scared as well...anyways I need to read, read, read.
And another resolution I would like to accomplish is to really truly make time for myself more. This one seems easy enough to say or write, but is nearly impossible for me on a daily basis. And this one taps into the whole excercising and eating right one too...if I make better choices for myself then I will feel better about putting my needs towards the front...not so much on the back burner all the time. But a mother's life really is not one filled with self-serving and selfish acts so this is really hard for me. I need to realize this next year how valuable I am to myself, and my family...and this is something I've kinda forgotten over the last few years. I guess in the midst of birthing babies, raising babies, learning to run my household and keep my marraige strong, in the back of my mind I always told myself that someday I'd get "there" - meaning a moment or two just for me along the way...I think that time has come.
I wish you all many fulfilling resolutions this 2008...I hope this coming year brings health and more amazing blessings to you as I know it will for me. Happy New Year!
